Sian joined the organisation in 2023 and brings with her over 20 years’ experience in New Zealand’s sporting sector. During this time, Sian has also worked in fitness, education and the academic sector as a coach, lecturer, researcher, practitioner and people leader. Most recently, Sian worked as a senior leader at Aotearoa’s national anti-doping organisation for the past eight years. There, Sian established the organisation’s Education programme and team as the Education Manager before moving into a General Manager role where she led the Education, Sport Operations and Quality teams and programmes. Sian has also contributed to international anti-doping efforts through membership on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Education Committee and Social Science Research Expert Advisory Groups.

As a learner, Sian has also completed her PhD, Master of Education and Bachelor of Sport Coaching, and remains passionate about contributing to knowledge, while translating theory into meaningful outcomes that are applied in practice for the benefit of ākonga, their whānau and wider communities.

When Sian is not working she enjoys road cycling, remaining up to date with current research and furthering her journey of increased cultural capability. Sian also remains busy chasing after her young son and looks forward to supporting him, and others, to develop and thrive with a love for learning through sport, active recreation and entertainment.
